From the Navy Memorial President and CEO:

Memorial Day is a solemn day of remembrance for our nation, a day to honor and remember those who gave their lives to defend our freedom and way of life. Although COVID-19 has precluded us from our usual ceremony on the Navy Memorial plaza, we are absolutely committed to recognizing our Sea Service veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice.

I’m proud to invite you to an online Wreath Laying Ceremony this Monday, May 25 at 1pm.

For this solemn event, I’ll be joined by Rear Admiral Carl A. Lahti, Commandant, Naval District Washington; and Commander Pratik K. Ray, Commander, Chaplain Corps, U.S. Navy, Director, NDW CREDO. At the United States Navy Memorial, our mission is to Honor, Recognize and Celebrate the men and women of the Sea Services past present and future, and to Inform the public about their service. We are proud to continue to fulfill this mission, even when we can’t gather together in person. We thank you for your continued generosity, which makes programs and events like this possible. Please join us at www.navymemorial.org for our Memorial Day ceremony. We look forward to honoring our brave Sea Service veterans with you.

Sincerely,
Frank Thorp IV
Rear Admiral, USN (Ret.)
