SNA has been informed that Navy Chief of Information has announced the winners of the 2019 Thompson-Ravitz Awards for Excellence in Navy Public Affairs. Naval History and Heritage Command submitted the communication effort around last summer’s broadcast of “Ready and Resilient: The Fight to Save USS Samuel B. Roberts” in the Digital Engagement category and won. This video has already over 28K views.
This video was made onboard USS TRUXTUN in Norfolk and features MCPON Russell Smith and CAPT Paul Rinn along Michael Tilley as they discussed saving Samuel B. Roberts in April 1988. This is a dramatic story how a well-trained, well-led crew responded after hitting a mine in the Persian Gulf. The video can still viewed on the Naval History and Heritage Command Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/USNHistory/videos/808041906263323/
